Detergent Dispenser.industrial design of a specialised detergent dispenser for domestic washing machines. The goal was to move beyond the utilitarian "plastic tray" aesthetic, creating a durable, user-friendly accessory that combined modern industrial design with high-performance material selection.
Industrial Design
3d Modelling
PrototypingThe ProcessThe development began with iterative form studies, focusing on ergonomics and ease of cleaning—a common pain point for existing dispenser designs. Once the organic, minimalist form was established, we moved into the technical engineering phase.
A critical component of this project was Material, Color, and Finish (MCF) selection. We opted for a high-grade, heat-resistant silicone, ensuring the product could withstand high-temperature wash cycles without warping or degrading. We curated a sophisticated colour palette—using Pistachio and Peach pastel tones—to differentiate the product in a market typically dominated by sterile whites and greys.
Deliverables
3D CAD AssembliesHigh-precision Master Models incorporating draft angles and wall thicknesses optimized for silicone injection molding.
Material SpecificationComprehensive data sheets for the heat-resistant silicone, ensuring compliance with domestic safety and durability standards.
Prototyping & ValidationFunctional 3D-printed prototypes used to test fitment, pour rates, and "hand-feel" before committing to expensive tooling.
